LOCAL PREPAREDNESS ACQUISITION ACT SIGNED INTO LAW

On June 26, 2008, President Bush signed into law H.R. 3179, the Local Preparedness Acquisition Act. This law makes Schedule 84 part of the cooperative purchasing program, allowing government buyers to purchase GSA vendors’ homeland security equipment without going out on bid. This will save the federal government millions of dollars for state and local governments while streamlining the acquisition process. These buyers will use Schedule 84 to purchase alarm systems, facility management systems, law enforcement and security equipment, firefighting and rescue equipment, marine craft, and other security equipment and services.

Eliminate Your Competition

State or local governments are allowed to purchase directly from either GSA Schedule 84 or GSA Schedule 70, bypassing the bidding laws if they so chose to do so.
